Just met Oliver Zeisberger for dinner in our good Cologne and he gave me a
presentation about his latest project speedseed (I like the name). Knowing
Oliver´s skills since pre Web 1.0 from my first Company, he is one of the most
innovative people here in our area, which is good and bad for him in the same
time
The idea is like Y
Combinator and Techstars in US and fills up a deal
pipe for potential investor through a structured qualification and setup process
in the seed stage (only internet companies). The benefiters are first time
founders (focus on university founders) which need access in a higher competing
market than ever before.
The idea is also good for business developers, which
need quick and structured deal flow.
Just wondering if the German market is far enough to get such a focused
structure integrated in the internet M&A space. But the direction is
definitively right. I don´t believe that the first time founders can handle a
setup of a company from stretch to post IPO within few years as I did during web
1.0 . The market players are more focused and far more experienced by the
influence of serial entrepreneurs and experienced finance investors.
Telling the truth, he had some strategic questions, which challenge me as
well.
Over all it looks for me like often in the last view month:
“Good idea
but right timing is key?

BTW: Here is one of the challenges, where your feedback is welcome. 10
Speedseeds will start tomorrow. How many exits in two or three years, do you
think we gonna get of the speedseeds?
